Maternity Photoshoot Further Information

“do I have to be naked?”

Maternity shoots are something that every woman should at least consider during their pregnancy.
It is such a special time, and over so quickly, it would be a shame not to capture the moment forever.
We have years of experience, in posing and making people feel at ease. We pride ourselves on the relaxed atmosphere in our studio.
One of the most often asked questions we get is ‘do I have to be naked?’
No – of course not.
We produce many styles of images ranging from fully clothed with gowns,  to naked, all of which are stunning and artistic, but most of all tasteful. No matter how you choose to be shot, our main focus is to create a piece which can be unashamedly be hung on your wall.
We have so many options for you to choose from, and we are adding gowns and props constantly.
This will all be discussed at our consultation, any fears and concerns you have we can chat about, and virtually everybody arrives at the studio full of excitement.

“I am really uncomfortable having my photo taken…….”

Most people are.
Although we now live in the age of social media and the selfie, actually having a camera pointed at you, particularly when you may not be feeling your most glamorous, can be very unnerving.
We understand this.
This is part of our job. To create body angles, and set up studio lights to produce amazing results.
We can take high key (white backgrounds) images, or dark images with lots of shadows.

When should I book?

As early as possible, ideally at 12 weeks if you know you will be wanting a maternity shoot.
We will make a provisional booking for you based on your due date.
Two weeks before the date, we will get in touch to see how things are, and to reconfirm the booking.

Do you take a deposit/retainer?

Yes, we take a 50% retainer on booking.
This applies to all shoots, as the studio will be booked
There will also normally be two members of staff waiting for your arrival.

What stage do I need to come to you?

Ideally we would like to plan a maternity shoot when you are between week 30 & 36.
At this point you will be have a very noticable bump.
Before this the bump may be small, especially in certain poses.
After this, and as we get closer to your due date, there is always the chance you may go into labour!
We recently had a cancellation as Dad was taking Mum to the hospital on the morning of a scheduled shoot.

How long will the shoot last?

This depends on your choice of shoot style.
You might choose just one shot, or multiple shots to include changes of clothing and lighting.
This will be discussed in the pre shoot consultation.
Normally a maternity shoot will not last longer than our estimates.
With a newborn session we always leave a healthy margin in case it runs over.

How do I book the shoots such as 'reflection'?

The reflection shoot, along with a certain other options, are a special booking.
This again would be something we discuss at your consultation.
We would need you to come into the studio twice, before and after the birth.
You can of course combine this with a maternity and a newborn shoot.
With these type of shot there is a lot of time spent in post production.
For more information, a blog post about one of our trademark shoots can be found here: Reflection Shoot

Are combined Bump and Baby shoots discounted?

Yes they are.
If you book a Maternity shoot with us, and at the same time schedule a newborn shoot then there will be a discount.

What happens after the shoot?

After the shoot, we will invite you back for a viewing session.
Here we will run through the different options available to purchase, along with samples.

Will you use my images on your website or social media?

Everybody is so pleased with the end results, that we often use images either on our website or social media.
However, there may be a lot of reasons why you would rather we not use any images.
Weather it be high profile celebrity status, or just an understandable desire for privacy, as our client we will respect your wishes.
